Maggie completed a joint honours degree in Classics and Music from University College Cork. Her thesis was titled “Ovidian New Pastoral: The Transformation of the Pastoral Genre through Music in the Metamorphoses.” She holds an MPhil in Classics from Trinity College Dublin titled “Blurring Genres: Paracomedy in the Songs of Euripides’ Helen, Alcestis, and Orestes.” Maggie’s doctoral dissertation, “The Songs of Euripides’ Fragmentary Plays,” aims to contribute to the wider understanding of Euripides’ lyric and uses of song in ancient drama. Thanks to her interdisciplinary background combined with experience as a teacher and research assistant on varied projects, Maggie is passionate about promoting a holistic view of ancient poetry, one that hears the echoes of song and performance behind the surviving written word.
